Presidents and chancellors

Matthew S. Holland, president of Utah Valley, announced he will serve as a mission president for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints starting in July 2018. He will continue to serve as Utah Valley president through early June … Cal State Fullerton President Mildred Garcia will leave that role to assume the presidency of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, effective Jan. 22. 

Athletics directors

Richmond announced John P. Hardt as its next athletics director. Since 2000, Hardt has served as the director of athletics and recreation at Bucknell … Jim Bartko, who has served as Fresno State’s director of athletics since January 2015, resigned, effective immediately, stating personal reasons.

Associate athletics directors

Tom Moreland was named associate athletics director for strategic initiatives at Purdue. Moreland will provide direct oversight of the Purdue ticket office and sales and service unit. Moreland has served in various capacities at Iowa since 2010 … Fairfield announced the hiring of Nick Wormley as executive director of athletic development/senior associate athletics director. A more than 10-year veteran in the field of university fundraising, Wormley most recently served as the executive director for university advancement and campaign management at Sacred Heart … Rob Jenkins has been named Mississippi State associate athletics director for development. Jenkins will serve as a liaison between the athletics department and the Mississippi State Foundation.

Men’s and women’s soccer

Gerson Echeverry stepped down as men’s head coach at Seton Hall to pursue other opportunities. Echeverry spent 15 years at Seton Hall as a player, assistant coach and, for the past six years, head coach … UConn women’s head coach Len Tsantiris announced his retirement after 37 years at the helm. Tsantiris finishes his career with 570 wins, ranking second all-time in women’s soccer history … Garrett Smith will not return as head coach of the Portland women’s program. Smith served 11 years as an assistant coach to both the men’s and women’s programs before transitioning to women’s head coach for the past 15 seasons … New Mexico State announced that the contract of head women’s coach Freddy Delgado will not be renewed. Delgado spent four seasons as head coach.
