Athletics directors

Gallaudet Athletics Director Michael Weinstock plans to retire Aug. 3 after 11 years in the post and 36 years as a staff member … Guilford named Craig Eilbacher interim athletics director. Eilbacher, an associate professor of sports studies, has been the faculty athletics representative since 2010, but will step down from that role for this semester … Michigan State appointed Bill Beekman as interim athletics director. Beekman most recently served as acting president at Michigan State and will remain vice president and secretary of the board of trustees … Davidson Director of Athletics Jim Murphy will move into a new role starting July 1 — director of athletics emeritus while serving as senior advisor to the president for finance and operations.

Associate athletics directors

Massachusetts hired Kirsten Britton as senior associate director of athletics for sport administration. Britton had served as associate director of athletics for facilities, operations and events for Holy Cross since February 2016 … Bob Schirmer is the new associate athletics director over finance at Brigham Young. Schirmer has more than 25 years of finance and operational experience.

Assistant athletics directors

Delaware selected Scott Day as assistant athletics director for communication/sports information director. He formerly served in the same role at Richmond. He replaces Scott Selheimer, who remains at Delaware in a part-time role.


Men’s and women’s lacrosse

Jeff Arneson was named head coach of the men’s team at Wilmington (Ohio). Arneson served as head men’s coach at Thiel from 2011 to 2017.

Men’s and women’s soccer

Haverford men’s head coach Shane Rineer resigned to accept the top assistant coaching position at Colgate … Steffen Siebert has resigned as head coach of the men’s team at Springfield to accept an opportunity at the U.S. Soccer National Training and Coaching Development Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Beach volleyball and men’s and women’s volleyball

After eight years as head coach of the women’s team at Muhlenberg, Alexa Keckler resigned to take the head coaching job of the women’s team at Lehigh … Southern Virginia named Debby Baker head coach of its women’s team. She previously was head coach at Southern Utah … Russ Friedland has been named Louisiana-Monroe’s head coach for women’s volleyball and beach volleyball … Hartford announced the hiring Vinh Nguyen as women’s head coach. Nguyen comes to Hartford after spending the previous three seasons as associate head coach at North Texas.


Adele Pack Boyd, 85, died Jan. 27 of complications from non-Hodgkins lymphoma and heart failure. Boyd played field hockey, lacrosse, tennis and squash and was a member of the U.S. national field hockey team from 1959 to 1967. Boyd became field hockey head coach at Ursinus in 1972, beginning a 17-year career that would include 16 winning seasons. She later became associate director of athletics.
