Even amid Grand Valley State University’s recent success – winning four NCAA Division II national titles since 2009 – coach Jeff Hosler treats every season as its own journey. The approach paid off again in 2015 when Grand Valley State defeated Columbus State University, 2-0, in the final of the Division II tournament Dec. 5, in Pensacola, Florida.
The victory gave the Lakers their third consecutive NCAA title and marked the fifth time in seven years they’ve ruled Division II women’s soccer.
Hosler liked the attitude that his team took from the time practice started in August.
“Our mindset was that we had a blank slate,” said Hosler, whose team finished 23-1-1 in 2015. “We hadn’t earned anything yet.”
