Year after year, more students than ever before are participating in NCAA athletics. The climb to more than 472,000 college athletes has been sure and steady, with 12-percent growth occurring during the most recent six-year period. The gains are noteworthy on their own, but an even more striking increase in participation is happening among students in one particular demographic: Students who identify as Hispanic or Latino are joining college teams at rates more than double the overall student population.
