The NCAA does facilitate the sale of institutional merchandise on NCAA.com, and Auburn's merchandise (and the banner on the site) highlights the Tigers' football national championship. However, this revenue would be negligible in the context of the all the money surrounding Division I FBS bowls. It certainly would not be a motivation for the NCAA to maintain the status quo, as the author of the original article claimed.
