The NCAA Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct is working to increase awareness of and commitment to sportsmanship across the Association. Through this initiative, the committee’s goal is to advance sportsmanship commitment by providing best practices and resources that campus leaders can use as they implement sportsmanship programs.
The NCAA offers many resources for schools to use as part of their sportsmanship program:
Respect Campaign Booklet (PDF)
This booklet, which was printed and mailed to all member schools and conferences, provides best practices, case studies and information on how to download available RESPECT campaign resources for use on campus.
The guide includes ideas for who could serve as committee members, an example of a sportsmanship policy, target audiences and channels for reaching them, and items to include in a launch plan - all designed to engage athletes, coaches and fans.
The 30-second spot encourages fans to behave in a sportsmanlike manner and can be played on video boards before or during a sporting event. The available file can also be customized with your school and/or conference logo.
This 30-second audio version is similar in content to the video public service announcement but available for events without a video board.
This sample script provides messaging for in-venue announcers to remind fans to behave in a sportsmanlike manner.
Game Program Ads (ZIP)
The ads - available in full-page, half-page and quarter-page sizes - feature the NCAA Respect campaign logo and the tagline, "It's the name of the game," to remind fans to engage in sportsmanlike behavior.
Each of the downloadable folders includes a print-ready PDF, as well as InDesign and Illustrator (.eps) files if you would like to customize the ad with your school and/or conference logo.
In-Venue Signage (ZIP)
The ads - available in two sizes - feature the NCAA Respect campaign logo and the tagline, "It's the name of the game," to remind fans to engage in sportsmanlike behavior.
Both of the downloadable folders include a print-ready PDF, as well as Illustrator (.eps) files if you would like to customize the banner with your school and/or conference logo.
Sportsmanship Awards Program
Annually, the NCAA Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct highlights instances of extraordinary sportsmanship. If your program yields an act that fits this description, nominate the individual, team or coach for an award.
