A career readiness program for student-athletes

Student-athletes may be at a disadvantage in developing experiential learning opportunities that assist all students during the transition from college student to career employee due to time demands on their schedule during the school year and summer. This includes less time flexibility in completing practicums, internships and working towards their post-baccalaureate goals. To address this concern, a four-stage program was completed by student-athletes and included entrepreneurship training, project based learning, workplace readiness training, and a local practicum with a community partner. To measure effectiveness of the program, participants’ career readiness was measured before and after program participation.
