Clarification of Timing of O’Bannon Injunction

“We appreciate Judge Wilken clarifying that the injunction will have no effect on NCAA rules until August 1, 2015, and that any benefits would begin no earlier than the 2016-2017 academic year. NCAA rules remain in place and are enforceable for prospective and current student-athletes, which means that benefits extended or offers made must follow current rules. As previously stated, we will appeal the Court’s decision because we do not believe the NCAA has violated any antitrust laws.  At the same time, the Association and its members continue to move forward, as evidenced by the changes in governance announced earlier this month, to evolve our rules and processes to better serve student-athletes.”
