Three schools to join DII

Division II membership will total 308 colleges, universities in 2018-19

Division II will add three schools to its ranks this fall, the Division II Membership Committee determined this week at a meeting in Indianapolis. Emmanuel College (Georgia), Spring Hill College and Westminster College (Utah) were approved to become active Division II members beginning Sept. 1.

As active members, the schools will be eligible to compete in NCAA championships and vote at the NCAA Convention, among other benefits.

The Membership Committee voted to accept the three schools as full members after the schools completed the division’s required membership process. The committee also voted to advance four other schools that are working through the multiyear membership process. Auburn University at Montgomery, Biola University, Davenport University and Purdue University Northwest all were approved to begin the third year of the membership process in 2018-19.

Benedictine University (Illinois), Savannah State University and The University of Texas at Tyler were accepted into the Division II membership process and will begin the first year of the process.

With the addition of its three newest members, the Division II membership will total 308 colleges and universities in 2018-19.
