Buzz Williams resigned as head men’s basketball coach at Marquette to take a similar position at Virginia Tech. Williams spent six seasons at Marquette while making five NCAA appearances.

Ferguson was Averett’s athletics director from 2005-11 and served as its director of annual giving until his current appointment … Jim Herlihy accepted the athletics director position at Saint Anselm … Pennsylvania named Dr. M. Grace Calhoun as its athletics director. Calhoun was the athletics director and assistant vice president at Loyola Chicago … Sioux Falls selected Josh Snyder as its new athletics director. Snyder comes to Sioux Falls after a stint as the senior associate athletics director for compliance and development at UMKC … George Mason’s Tom O’Connor announced his retirement after 20 years as the university’s athletics director and 40 years in Division I athletics … Lewis & Clark named Shana Levine as athletics director … Western Washington named Steven Card as athletics director … Augustana (South Dakota) selected Slade Larscheid as athletics director. Associate athletics director – Northern Kentucky hired Dan McIver as its senior associate athletics director for business and finance. McIver was the senior associate athletics director at Green Bay.

Assistant athletics directors – Central Florida welcomed back Jimmy Skiles as its assistant athletics director for fan development. Most recently, Skiles was the director of marketing and promotions.

Baseball – Matt Rodovick resigned as head coach at Saint Michael’s … Quinnipiac promoted associate head coach John Delaney to head coach following the 2014 season. Delany stepped in after head coach Dan Gooley retired.

Men’s Basketball – Dayton extended the contract of Archie Miller through the 2018-19 season … James Dickey stepped down as Houston’s head coach … Bowling Green hired Chris Jans as its head coach. Former American men’s soccer standout Shawn Kuykendall died March 12 after an eight-month battle with thymic cancer. The 32 year-old was the university’s first and only Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year. After graduating in 2005, he played for D.C. United in the MLS and was an assistant coach at his alma mater from 2011-13.

St. Bonaventure’s assistant sports information director Brian Moretti died unexpectedly of apparent cardiac arrest on March 5. At the time, Moretti was traveling with the women’s basketball team for the Atlantic 10 tournament. He was 26.

Former Temple athletics director Dave O’Brien died on March 1 at the age of 57. He had battled cancer for the last six years … Penn State announced former associate athletics director and senior woman administrator Ellen Perry died at the age of 72 … Delaware coaching legend “Irv Whiz” Wisniewski died after a brief illness at the age of 89 … William G. “Elbows” Simpson, former Clarion wrestling standout, died on February 12 at the age of 62 … Texas announced the death of longtime associates athletics director and co-director of sports medicine Tina Bonci. She died on March 7 at the age of 59.

Fred Hill, Rutgers head baseball coach announced his retirement after 37 years at the helm of the program. Hill accumulated 1,098 career wins, 11 NCAA tournament appearances and 8 conference tournament titles.
