Directors of athletics -- St. John's Director of Athletics Chris Monasch announced he will resign from his position at the university.  Monasch executed several new initiatives during his tenure, most notably facility enhancements, strategic partnerships and the expansion of multimedia platforms … Kim Graham has been named the new director of athletics at Shorter. Graham comes to Shorter from Division I Campbell, where he has served as senior associate athletics director since November 2008 … Southern Utah Director of Athletics Ken Beazer announced his resignation. Beazer was appointed to the position in January 2006 and was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the department, providing leadership and direction for 17 NCAA Division I sports and over 350 student-athletes … Moravian  Director of Athletics Scot Dapp has announced his retirement from the school. Since taking over as director of athletics in June 2011, Dapp oversaw the renovations to Johnston Hall and the return of men’s and women’s lacrosse to varsity sports … Eastern Nazarene named Bradford Zarges as its new athletic director. Zarges joins ENC from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, where he has served as assistant men’s basketball coach and aquatics director since 2010 … Milton Richards has resigned as senior director of athletics and recreation at Simon Fraser. Richards had served as athletics director at Simon Fraser since November 1, 2011 and was instrumental in leading the university into the NCAA … Teresa Boylan has been named athletic director at Hollins. Boylan comes to Hollins from Sweet Briar College, where she held many positions, including head tennis coach and sports information director … John Hartwell was hired by Utah State as the next director of athletics. Hartwell succeeds Scott Barnes, who was recently named the director of athletics at Pittsburgh … Dean O’Keefe was hired as athletic director at Stonehill. O’Keefe is a former soccer student-athlete at Stonehill … Western Illinois will keep interim director Matt Tanney in charge of Leatherneck athletics into 2016. Tanney was promoted from deputy athletic director last month, and will begin his fourth year at Western Illinois.

Associate athletics directors – John Dedman has been named associate athletic director for communication at Butler. He served as assistant sports information director at Butler from 2003 to 2006, handling media relations/communications for nine NCAA Division I sports … Michelle Manning has been promoted to associate director of athletics for finance and administration at Ithaca. She will oversee the implementation of the department's budget, coordinate post-season tournaments and manage key aspects of intercollegiate athletics … Pace named Drew Brown as the associate athletic director for external operations. Brown most recently worked at the ECAC for the past two years with his current title being senior vice president and Chief of Staff… Lisa Gilmore was hired as Albilene Christian’s new associate director of athletics for compliance and academics. Gilmore has been at New Mexico for the last 10 years and in Lobo Athletics for the last seven years … John David Wicker was named senior associate athletic director for operations at Georgia Tech. Wicker comes to Atlanta after spending the previous four years at San Diego State, first as senior associate AD / Chief Operating Officer for three years and then most recently as Deputy AD … Eastern Kentucky  hired  Matt Roan as the department's deputy director of athletics. In Roan's new role at EKU, he will focus on external operations, legal and other administrative matters, as well as sports administration … Jude Killy was promoted to deputy athletic director at Miami (Ohio).  He has served as the senior associate athletic director of external operations for the RedHawks since 2012.

Assistant athletics directors -- Ben Herman has been named the assistant athletics director for equipment operations at Eastern Michigan.  Before coming to Ypsilanti, Herman worked as the assistant director for athletic equipment services at San Diego State where he was responsible for budgeting, purchasing and issuing athletic equipment for baseball, football, volleyball, lacrosse, swimming, water polo, tennis and golf … Nicholls State hired Lori Richard as assistant athletic director for academic services. Richard's day-to-day responsibilities will include supervising study hall, monitoring academic eligibility, providing academic advising, working with academic at-risk student-athletes, assisting registration, meeting recruits and various other tasks … Stevens Institute of Technology has promoted Emily Kaczmarek to assistant director of athletics for administration. Kaczmarek started at Stevens in January 2013 as an intern, assisting in compliance and event management.

Coaches

Baseball -- Scott Loiseau will return to Southern New Hampshire as baseball coach. A two-time regional coach of the year and the Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year in 2014, Loiseau has coached a total of seven players who were selected in the Major League Baseball draft.

Men’s basketball -- Joe Mihalich will resign as head basketball coach at Hofstra University. He enters the 2015-16 season with 295 career victories during his 17-year head coaching career.

Women’s Basketball Assistants—Dustyn Yung has been named director of women’s basketball operations at Bradley. He was part of back-to-back 20-win seasons at Central Methodist, helping the Eagles to a 25-8 record and the school’s first NAIA Tournament appearance as a senior in 2012-13 as a student assistant coach along with a 22-9 mark in his first year as a graduate assistant in 2013-14 … Joya Whittington was added to Lamar’s staff as an assistant.  Whittington comes to Lamar from Lackawanna College, an NJCAA school in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where she spent the past two seasons as head coach of the Falcons.

Men’s and Women’s Cross Country—Wingate has appointed Ashley Vaughn as head men’s and women’s cross country coach. Vaughn joins the Bulldog family after spending the last two seasons as an assistant track and field and cross country coach for the Charlotte 49ers … Meghan Peyton will become head coach at Augsburg for men’s and women’s cross country. Peyton, who has been a part of the Augsburg cross country and track and field coaching staff since 2010, will also serve as an assistant coach for the track and field teams, coaching the distance runners.

Field hockey -- Western New England hired Mary Clare Snediker as field hockey coach. During the 2014-15 academic year, Snediker was on the coaching staffs for the Western New England field hockey and women's lacrosse squads.

Women’s golf -- Sandy Wagner resigned as head coach at Eastern Michigan. Wagner served as the head coach of the squad for 10 seasons.

Men’s Hockey Assistants -- Holy Cross named Peter Roundy as an assistant men's ice hockey coach. Roundy has spent the last four seasons at Trinity (Connecticut), where this past season, he served as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for the Bantams who won the 2015 NCAA Division III national championship.

Women’s Lacrosse—Danielle Fiala has been hired as the next women’s lacrosse coach at North Central. A four-year starter for North Central from 2010-2013 and the program's current career scoring leader, Fiala returns to Naperville after two years at Wartburg.

Men’s and Women’s Track and Field -- Brevard hired Michael Bayne to lead the Tornados’ track program. Bayne will serve as the head coach of the track team and as the special teams coordinator for the Tornados football program … Travis LeFlore has been named the head men’s and women’s track and field coach at Wingate. LeFlore is the Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2015 NCAA Division II Women’s Outdoor Track & Field season … Emily Hackert has been named head coach of Augsburg track and field. This past season, she coached an All-American women's 1,600-meter relay squad (sixth) and a national qualifier in the men's 400-meter dash during the indoor half of the season, while coaching an All-American in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase during the outdoor half of the season.  Kevin Quinn announced his retirement at Saint Joseph’s. Quinn spent a combined 49 years as head coach between SJU’s men’s and women’s track and field and cross country programs. In a total of 147 men’s and women’s cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track seasons that spanned 49 years, Quinn coached 40 NCAA qualifiers, nine NCAA All-Americans, and 10 ECAC/IC4A champions, as well as Saint Joseph’s only NCAA champion, Donna Crumety, who claimed the 1991 title in the triple jump.

Wrestling assistants -- Joe DeAngelo was hired at Hofstra as the new volunteer assistant wrestling coach. A 2015 graduate of North Carolina State with a degree in religious studies, DeAngelo earned NCAA wrestling championship bids in 2013 and 2015 for the Wolfpack.

Conferences

Commissioners – Jennifer Heppel has been appointed as the Patriot League’s Executive Director. She comes to the Patriot League after working the past five years as an associate commissioner at the Big Ten Conference.

Assistant commissioners -- Sarah Twiggs has been named as the next assistant commissioner of the Landmark Conference. Twiggs comes to the Landmark following a year interning in media relations with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, a 16-member Division II conference based in Michigan that sponsors championships in 21 sports … The Eastern College Athletic Conference named Meghan O’Brien as director of sport administration for marketing and communications. She will oversee and direct efforts in the areas of marketing, media and public relations, communications and special events … A.J. Grube, Western Carolina’s faculty athletics representative, was elected president of the Southern Conference. She has served as vice president of the Southern Conference for the past two years, with Chip Taylor from the Citadel serving as president … 

June 5, 2015:

Athletic directors -- Don Lyle, director of athletics and chairman of the department of exercise science and athletics at Grove City, will retire from the college at the conclusion of this academic year. Lyle is in his 13th year as athletic director and 19th year as department chair …   Angelo State announced the appointment of James Reid as interim athletic director for the university. Reid has led the men's and women's track and field programs since 1999 and has served as assistant athletic director since 2007 … Chapman announced that current Associate Director of Athletics Terry Boesel has been named director of athletics. Boesel will succeed David Currey who announced his retirement in January, effective this summer … Patrick M. Kraft, who currently serves as Temple's deputy director of athletics, replaced Kevin Clark as athletics director. Kraft also served as the sport administrator for the Temple football program, which includes personnel, budgeting, student-athlete conduct and welfare, APR planning, game scheduling, academic monitoring, and student-athlete counseling … Trish O’Brien, who has served as Massachusetts Maritime’s assistant  director of athletics for the past three years, was appointed as acting director of athletics. O’Brien will serve in the position until a permanent successor is hired to replace longtime Buccaneer Athletics Director Bob Corradi … Rob Mallory, associate director of athletics at Quincy for the past four years, has been appointed director of athletics at Kentucky Wesleyan. Mallory currently oversees a comprehensive NCAA compliance program and management of all game operations … Emory University announced the hiring of Michael Vienna as director of athletics.  Vienna comes to Emory from Salisbury (Maryland) where he has worked since 1989 … Jim Watson, West Liberty’s long serving athletic director, announced his retirement.  Watson served as athletic director for 26 years and was employed at West Liberty for 44 years … Dickinson announced the hiring of Joe Giunta as the next director of athletics and chair of physical education. Giunta comes to Dickinson from Temple, where he has been the senior associate athletic director for sports administration since 2012 … Findlay Director of Athletics Steven Rackley announced his retirement. He will next take on the role as athletic director at Alma in Michigan … Chris Morgan was hired as Elizabethtown’s new director of athletics. Since the fall of 2011, Morgan has overseen athletic operations for Kean in Union, N.J., as the director of athletics and recreation …  Jana Doggett, executive associate athletics director for external operations and Senior Woman's Administrator, has been appointed interim athletics director by Utah State. Doggett is in her ninth year with the Utah State Athletics Department.

Assistant athletic directors -- Le Moyne announced that Steve Evans has been promoted to the administrative position of associate director of athletics. Evans, the men ‘s basketball coach, amassed 210 victories, 151 of which came during Northeast-10 Conference play, and guided the Dolphins to the postseason 13 times, including two semifinal appearances and a championship game berth in 2009 … Longtime Iowa athletics official Fred Mims announced he will retire from the department effective June 30. Mims serves as an associate athletics director, a position he’s held for more than 25 years … Danny Vohden was promoted to assistant athletic director for communications and events at Stevens Institute of Technology after serving as the interim director since March. He successfully ran media operations for the 2015 NCAA Men's Volleyball National Championship in addition to running the communications and events for 10 spring sports … Northwest Nazarene hired former basketball player Alison Graham as the new assistant athletic director for compliance and student affairs.  Graham is a 2002 graduate of NNU … Alaska announced the hiring of Chris Caskey as the assistant athletic director of communications. Caskey will oversee the athletic communication operations for all 10 Nanook sports … Oakland named Tara Bergeron assistant athletic director for development. Bergeron will be responsible for development, implementation, and management of the department's fundraising plan and activities within the Golden Grizzly Athletic Fund.

Associate athletic directors -- Lynn hired Devin Crosby as director of athletics for the NCAA Division II Fighting Knights. Previously, as deputy athletics director at Kent State, Crosby helped raise funds for scholarships and facilities, improved student attendance at games and increased the national profile of the athletics program … Hartford hired Scott Dolch as senior associate athletics director for external relations. Dolch comes to Hartford after serving in the same position at UMass Lowell for the past two years … Andrew Hamor became the associate athletics director for development for Kent State. In his new role, Hamor will lead the athletics department's development efforts and serve as a member of the senior staff … Marquette announced the promotion of Adrienne Ridgeway to associate athletic director for academic support and student programs. She is replacing Tom Ford, who is retiring this summer after working for 25 years in the athletics department at Marquette … Robert Giovannetti was named the senior associate athletics director at Texas Tech. Giovannetti will have direct oversight over several of the department's external units, including athletics communications, sports broadcasting, promotions and fan engagement, ticket sales and ticket operations … Tilghman Moyer has been named to the position of senior associate athletic director/associate vice president for athletic development at Temple. In his new role, Moyer will focus his attention on raising private funds in support of student-athletes, while also having oversight of the athletic development operation … Massachusetts announced the appointment of Thomas P. McElroy as senior associate director of athletics for external relations. McElroy will be responsible for the oversight, management, and operation of the athletic department's marketing, sales, and communications programming … Andrew Gavin was hired as Centre’s new associate athletic director for advancement and external relations. As the first person to serve in the newly created position, Gavin will fill a wide array of roles within Centre's athletic department … Marquette announced the addition of Brian Hardin as deputy athletic director. Hardin will be a member of the executive staff at Marquette and will oversee the department's marketing and ticketing units and serve as the primary contact with the M Club, which is comprised of the University's former student-athletes … Houston announced the promotion of Jeramiah Dickey as the program’s deputy athletic director. Dickey came to Houston after serving for more than three years as assistant athletics director for development at Akron.

Coaches

Baseball -- Saint Rose announced  that Kyle Wilkins has been named the full-time head coach of the Golden Knights baseball team. Wilkins, who served as an assistant from 2012-14, is the fourth head coach in the program’s 36-year history.

Men’s Basketball — Ryan Odom was hired by Lenoir-Rhyne as their new men’s head basketball coach. .  Odom is the 17th head coach in school history.

Men’s Basketball Assistants -- Dan Bozzelli, assistant men's basketball coach at Rochester (New York) for the last three seasons, has been named assistant men's basketball coach at DePauw.  Bozzelli replaces Brian Oilar who left in April to take the head coaching position at Otterbein … Florida Southern named Mike Makubika as an assistant basketball coach.  Makubika comes to Lakeland and the Moccasins from Southern Connecticut State where he spent the past five seasons (2010-15) as an assistant coach with the Owls.

Women’s Basketball —McMurry hired Brittany Densman-Roes as the next head women’s basketball coach. Densman-Roes was formally an assistant coach for McMurry … New Jersey City announced the resignation of women’s basketball head coach Amy Mulligan. Mulligan coached the Knights for four years.

Field Hockey -- Erika Dombkowski has been named DePauw's head field hockey coach. She replaces Gina Wills,who left to become the head coach at Washington and Lee.

Football assistant -- Former Wayne State (Michigan)  wide receivers coach E.J. Henderson recently returned to Paul Winters' staff after serving one year at Ohio Northern University as the wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator. Henderson previously coached on Winters’ staff from 2004-06.

Women’s Lacrosse assistants -- Natalie Bermudez was named an assistant women's lacrosse coach at Felician. She and head coach Angelica Gero were teammates as freshmen on the first team in GCU history in 2007, and were both Lion captains in 2010.

Men’s soccer -- Hofstra men's soccer coach Richard Nuttall – the longest-tenured active coach in the university's department of athletics – has signed a multiyear contract extension.  Nuttall will be entering his 27th season at the helm in 2015, and has led his team to Colonial Athletic Association Tournament appearances in four of the last five seasons, including his most recent campaign in which the Pride finished in a three-way tie for the regular season title … Stockton named alumnus and Stockton Athletics Hall of Famer Greg Ruttler as its new men’s soccer coach. Ruttler moves up to the head coaching position after nine years as assistant and then associate head coach for the Ospreys.

Women’s Soccer —Nick Brown was hired as the new women’s soccer head coach for Catawba. Brown, a former player for the Catawba men’s team, has been an assistant with the women’s program since 2010 and is the current head coach at Lake Norman High School …  Greg Sheen was been hired as head women’s soccer coach at UTSA. Sheen, who becomes just the second coach in program history, was named interim coach on April 2, 2014. Sheen will enter his third season with the program after he spent the 2014 season as interim head coach and the 2013 campaign as an assistant.

Softball -- Assumption softball coach Ralph DeLucia retired from his position after 18 years of leading the program. DeLucia ends his career with a mark of 412-384-6 (.517), highlighted by his 400th career victory during the 2015 season.

Women’s Tennis —New Jersey City announced the hiring of Gary Preston, Jr. as head women’s tennis coach. Preston, 28, has worked for nearly four years as a tennis instructor, youth and development trainer and a hitter at both the Manhattan Plaza Racquet Club and the Roosevelt Island Racquet Club in New York City.

Men’s Track and Field -- Carthage named Josh Henry head men’s track and field coach. Henry, who also serves as Carthage's head men's cross country coach, was an assistant men's and women's cross country/track and field coach for five years at SUNY Cortland from 2009-2013. Brevard announced the hiring of Michael Bayne to lead the Tornados’ track program. Bayne will serve as the head coach of the track team and as the special teams coordinator for the Tornados football program.

Men’s and Women’s Track and Field assistants —Jeff Rebholz became the assistant coach for men’s and women’s track and field at Carthage. Rebholz was as a Carthage assistant for five years between 2010 and 2014, and was head coach in 2015 before relinquishing his duties to Josh Henry.

Women’s volleyball --  Melissa Batie-Smoose was been named the new head coach of the volleyball program at Holy Cross. Batie-Smoose, who is the 10th head coach in program history, has over 20 years of collegiate coaching experience including in the Ivy League, ACC, SEC, Conference USA and Missouri Valley conferences. 

Deaths

Doug Davis, strength coach at Purdue, passed away at age 33 on May 13. Davis passed away following an illness. He earned his bachelor's degree from Ohio Dominican in 2004 and his master's degree in exercise science from California (Pennsylvania) in 2009 … Former North Carolina men’s basketball coach Bill Guthridge passed away at 77 years old on May 12. Guthridge led the Tar Heels to two Final Fours in three years as head coach and was the consensus national coach of the year in 1998 … The Rev. John Lo Schiavo, who spent 14 years as president at San Francisco, passed  away at the age of 90 on May 15. Schiavo is most known when he took the rare step of suspending the men’s basketball program after repeated violations of NCAA rules. He was affiliated with the university, a Jesuit school, almost continuously for more than 60 years … Walter Byers, the first executive director of the NCAA who spent 36 years leading and shaping the organization that oversees college athletics, passed away at age 93 on May 26. Byers started his job as NCAA executive director in 1951. He was a big proponent of having the NCAA oversee women’s athletics as well and that came to fruition in the early 1980s. Byers is survived by sons Fritz and Ward, daughter Ellen, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
