Morehead State announced the retirement of head men’s golf coach Dr. Rex Chaney after 38 years at the helm of the program and 61 years with the athletic department.

Athletics directors – Bob Quinn resigned as Loras’ athletics director … Wisconsin-Whitewater promoted Amy Edmonds to athletics director … VCU promoted Ed McLaughlin to associate vice president and athletics director … Cheryl Levick stepped down as Georgia State’s athletics director to accept the position of special assistant to the university’s president … Dan Schumacher resigned as Chicago State’s athletics director to accept a similar position at Wisconsin-Eau Claire … Anna Maria hired Laura Habacker as its athletics director … Mike Lynch stepped down as Boston’s athletics director … George Mason announced the addition of Brad Edwards as its new athletics director. Jacksonville named Dr. Donnie Horner as its new athletics director … Washington U. in St. Louis hired Josh Whitman as athletics director.

Associate athletics directors – After 21 years as the director of marketing, Western Washington promoted Steve Brummel to associate athletics director for facilities and operations … After 41 years at UMBC as a coach and an administrator Kathy Zerrlaut, senior associate athletics director for compliance, has announced her retirement. Zerrlaut spent 24 years coaching volleyball and lacrosse and most recently served as the school’s compliance officer … Saint Michaels announced the retirement of Zac Bludevich as senior associate athletics director and head athletic trainer and elevated Chris Kenny to senior associate athletics director … Scott Williams returned to Oral Roberts as its senior associate athletics director for compliance. Oral Roberts also promoted Scott Higgins to senior associate athletics director for marketing and Rhonda Fowler to senior associate athletics director for business … Middlebury lacrosse coach and administrator Missy Foote will retire in June 2015 after a 38-year career at the college. Foote coached women’s lacrosse at Middlebury for 34 years, and spent 21 years at the helm of the field hockey program. She is currently associate director of athletics and has also served as the department’s senior woman administrator for the past 17 years … Texas A&M promoted Kevin Hurley to senior associate athletics director for facilities and construction … Arizona State named David Cohen as its new senior associate athletics director … John Stanley announced his retirement as Evansville’s athletics director … After spending one in the interim role, Geneva named Van Zanic as its athletics director.

Assistant athletics directors – Western Washington elevated Dr. T.H. “Butch” Kamena to assistant athletics director for compliance and academics. Kamena has been with the athletics department for 26 years … Texas A&M-Corpus Christi named Bill McDaniel as its assistant athletics director for external operations … Wayne State (Nebraska) hired Ryan Hix as assistant athletics director for business management … Saint Michael’s promoted Meggan Dulude to associate athletics director

Baseball – Rocky Ward will not return as New Mexico State’s head coach … UC Riverside announced the retirement of head coach Doug Smith. Smith spent nearly 40 years with the program, spending the last 10 as head coach … Rick Robinson accepted head coaching position at UT Martin … Brian Disch resigned as Wayne State (Nebraska)’s head coach to accept a high school teaching position … Western New England elevated Dan Gomez from interim to permanent head coach … Eastern Michigan did not renew the contract of Jay Alexander … Pacific (Oregon) named Brian Billings as head coach to succeed Greg Bradley … East Carolina did not renew the contract of had coach of Billy Goodwin … South Florida named Mark Kingston as head coach.

Men’s basketball – Western State hired its former player Bradd Schafer as head coach … Stillman selected Donte Jackson as its head coach … LeTourneau named Dan Miller head coach … Aurora hired Adam Stevens as its new head coach. Stevens spent the past 11 seasons as Central (Iowa)’s head coach … Jeff Bower resigned as Marist’s head coach … Samford named Scott Padgett as head coach. Padgett was a NCAA Champion at Kentucky and a first-round NBA draft pick.

Women’s basketball – Central Washington hired Jeff Harada as its head coach. Harada spent the last three seasons as an assistant at Navy … C.K. Calhoun resigned as Shenandoah’s head coach after two seasons … Montana announced that the program’s career and single season assist leader, Travis DeCuire, will be the hew head coach … Shenandoah promoted Melissa Kraft to head coach … Stony Brook named Caroline McCombs as head coach. Most recently, McCombs was an assistant coach at Auburn.

Men’s and women’s cross country and track and field – Bill Fritz retired after 43 years as Rowan’s head cross country and track and field coach … Washington State named Wayne Phipps as director of cross country and track and field … SUNY Geneseo named its former runner Chris Popovici as its head cross country and track and field coach … Tim Boyce stepped down after seven years as Pacific (Oregon)’s head coach … Ed Beathea resigned as head coach at Ohio State

Field hockey – Western New England added former Olympian, Judy Strong, as its head coach. Strong had a successful playing career at Massachusetts and was named to the division I 25th anniversary team … Husson named Madeline Hoeppner as its head coach.

Men’s and women’s golf – Meghan Sobotta stepped down as Wisconsin – Eau Claire’s head women’s coach … Ashland named Kory Oslie as its head women’s coach … Abilene Christian did not renew the contract of head men’s coach Mike Campbell Sarah Sargent accepted the position as head women’s coach at James Madison … Bill Lindmark retired after 19 seasons as Green Bay’s head men’s coach.

Men’s and women’s ice hockey – St. Cloud State hired Eric Rud as its head women’s coach … SUNY Cortland elevated interim assistant coach Tom Cranfield to head men’s coach … Northland named Seamus Gregory as its new head coach.

Men’s and women’s lacrosse – Felician named Angelica Gero as its first-ever head women’s coach. The program will begin competition in the spring of 2015 … McKendree named Melissa Pearsall as its women’s head coach … Northwestern-St. Paul added Taylor Deetjen as its inaugural head women’s coach … Holy Cross hired Judd Lattimore as its head coach. Lattimore spent the last two seasons as Pennsylvania’s top assistant … Aurora added Christina Fried as its head women’s coach … Husson named Madeline Hoeppner as its head women’s coach … Wesleyan (Connecticut) named interim head coach Amanda Belichick as its permanent head women’s coach.

Rowing – Eastern Michigan announced Brad Holdren will not return as its head coach.

Men’s and women’s soccer – Valdosta State named Rebecca Nolin as its head women’s coach … DePauw promoted Megan McCormick to head women’s coach … Slippery Rock hired Andy Hoggarth as its head men’s coach. Hoggarth was an assistant women’s coach at Akron … Bellarmine selected Chris Tinus as its head women’s coach. Tinus was the associate head coach at Western Kentucky … John Antonisse accepted the position of head women’s coach at LeTourneau … Cal State Dominguez Hills hired Aileen Nasypany as its head women’s coach.

Softball – Tennessee State named Tom Opdenbrouw as its new head coach … Ole Miss selected Mike Smith as its head coach. Smith led McNeese State to three straight 30-win seasons … Aurora named Ryan Lakin as its new men's soccer coach … Southern Virginia added Kortny Hall as its head coach … West Florida promoted Melissa Paul to head coach … John Rittman resigned as Stanford’s head coach … Coker appointed Travis McCall as head coach … McNeese State promoted Joanna Hardin to head coach.

Men’s and women’s swimming and diving – Illinois-Chicago hired Tim Loeffler as its head swim coach … Middlebury named Kimberly Schmidt as its new diving coach.

Men’s and women’s tennis – Oregon named former Georgia Tech national champion and NCAA tournament MVP Aliso Silverio as its head women’s coach. Silverio spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach at her alma mater … Stanford’s head men’s coach, John Whitlinger, retired after 10 seasons at the helm … North Carolina State named Simon Earnshaw as its head women’s coach. Earnshaw was the head coach at division II powerhouse Armstrong. During his 15-year stint at Armstrong, Earnshaw led the women’s program to six national championships and the men’s program to three. He is a four-time intercollegiate tennis association national women's coach of the year and 19-time Peach Belt Conference coach of the year … Walter Shinn retired after 35 years leading Flagler’s women tennis program … James Madison selected James Bryce as its new head women’s coach after Maria Malebra retired following 38 years leading the program.

Men’s and women’s volleyball – Mississippi Valley State hired Douglas Hunter as its head women’s coach. Hunter was the head coach at Shaw … Transylvania named Kyle Walton as its head coach … Alabama A&M selected Rose Magers-Powell as its head women’s coach. Powell was a standout at Houston and a member of the 1984 US Olympic team that earned silver.

Men’s and women’s water polo – San Jose State promoted Johnny Bega to full-time head women’s coach.

Wrestling – Derek DelPorto resigned after eight seasons at the helm of Eastern Michigan’s program.

Conferences

Commissioner – The Midwest Conference appointed Heather Benning as executive director.

Communications – The Midwest Conference named Louis Groce as director of media and information.

Deaths

Former St. Cloud State women’s athletics director Gladys Ziemer died at the age of 74. Ziemer was the women’s athletics director from 1969 to 1995 and the women’s basketball coach from 1973 to 1993 … Jim Wescott. The Colby head cross country and track and field coach from 1978 to 2003 died at the age of 71.
