Athletics directors -- Allen Greene, a senior athletics administrator who has played a key role in elevating the University at Buffalo’s athletics profile nationally, was promoted to director of athletics. Greene, 38, becomes one of the youngest athletics directors in the NCAA Division I ranks … Rutgers hired Patrick Hobbs as their director of athletics. He previously served as Dean Emeritus of the Seton Hall University School of Law and led the athletics program at Seton Hall during a period of major change … Tulane announced that it hired Troy A. Dannen to be the Green Wave’s new director of athletics. Previously, Dannen was the director of athletics at Northern Iowa … Northern Iowa named deputy athletic director Jean Berger as UNI's interim director of athletics. Berger joined UNI in 2008 as senior associate athletic director and senior woman administrator … Indiana University of Pennsylvania announced the appointment of Steve Roach as the school's director of athletics. Previously IUP's interim director, Roach had been working in that capacity since January.

Associate athletic directors -- Florida A&M announced Marvin Green will be a part of the athletic department's executive staff. Green, the former director of student activities at FAMU, will oversee five athletic teams as the associate athletic director for sports administration  … Cheryl Holt, who has served as Austin Peay State’s assistant athletics director since 2003 after a long and successful APSU volleyball coaching career, was elevated to associate athletics director. Holt came to APSU in 1982 and served as volleyball coach for 23 years.

Assistant athletics directors -- South Dakota State hired Jeffrey Eisenbaum as assistant athletic director for ticket sales and operations. Eisenbaum comes to the school from IMG Learfield Ticket Solutions  …  North Carolina-Pembroke named Adam Hardin assistant athletics director and executive director of the Braves Club. Hardin spent the last eight years in UNCP’s Office of Admissions where he served a role as the athletic liaison for all athletic coaches and prospective student-athletes … Morgan State named Erlease Wagner as assistant athletic director for compliance and the senior woman administrator. Wagner comes to Morgan State after spending eight years as the director of athletic compliance at Syracuse … Western Illinois hired Haley Jones as the assistant athletic director for compliance. Jones will rejoin the Leatherneck staff after serving as a graduate assistant for compliance from August 2012-May 2014 … Southern Illinois University Edwardsville announced the appointment of NaDean Schroeder as an assistant athletics director. Schroeder joined the external relations team in 2012 and has lead marketing and event management efforts for men's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, wrestling and softball … Jim Hanauer, formerly the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation’s director of development for annual giving, was named assistant athletics director for digital strategy and analytics … Richmond named Scott Day as its new assistant athletic director for communications.

Coaches

Baseball -- Dave Hajek, a former Major League Baseball player who spent parts of two seasons at the top level with the Houston Astros during his 10 year playing career, will be the first head baseball coach at Colorado-Colorado Springs.

Baseball assistants-- Former Blue Hens standout catcher Troy O’Neal has returned to Delaware as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2016 season. He  will work with the Blue Hen catchers and as a hitting coach.

Men’s and women’s soccer -- Frank Olszewski, a veteran NCAA Division I head men’s soccer coach at Towson and United States Soccer Federation national staff member, was named men’s coach at Davis & Elkins. Olszewski replaces Greg Myers who retired after finishing his fourth coaching stint at D&E this season … Young Harris relieved Kathy Brown of her duties as the head coach of the Mountain Lions women's soccer program.

Men’s and women’s tennis -- Assumption men’s and women’s tennis head coach Dan Munsey resigned to accept the head coaching position at Emerson. In the fall of 2015, Munsey was named as the Northeast-10 Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year after guiding the Hounds to the Northeast-10 Championship Quarterfinals as the No. 5 seed.

Rowing – Washington announced that head women’s rowing coach Bob Ernst was relieved of his duties. Ernst was in his 42nd year at Washington. Assistant coach Connor Bullis will assume interim head coaching duties of the program.

Conferences

Assistant commissioners -- Jon Teetzel was appointed as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference assistant commissioner for internal operations. Teetzel joins the conference office directly from the NCAA, where he was a member of the amateurism leadership team in the eligibility center … Natalie Fiorenza was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference operations coordinator and will serve the management team as the senior woman administrator. 

Staff

Chief of staff – Former Oregon State University student-athlete Kyle Bjornstad was named chief of staff for Beaver athletics. Bjornstad spent the last four years as an assistant director of annual giving and the director of the Varsity OSU program for Our Beaver Nation.

Event operations -- North Dakota State hired Colin Bailey as director of event operations, a new full-time position that will oversee facility maintenance, scheduling, event planning and game day operations.  

Development -- Edinboro named Jon Pulice as the university’s director of athletic development. 

Deaths -- Raymond DeFrancesco died after a brief illness on Nov. 28. DeFrancesco served Southern Connecticut State University in six decades as a student-athlete, coach and director of athletics. DeFranceso was a standout in football and baseball at then-New Haven State Teachers College. He later went on to serve as an assistant coach for both programs as well as the head freshman football coach. In 1974, DeFrancesco was named as the Owls' director of athletics and held that post until 1992.

Athletics directors -- Danny White was selected as Central Florida’s athletics director. White was previously the director of athletics at The State University of New York at Buffalo for three years … Eric Sexton will be leaving his role as Wichita State’s athletic director. Officials said Sexton has been transitioning out of the athletic director role since last spring, when he was named vice president of student affairs … Coppin State athletic director Derrick Ramsey resigned. Ramsey has been athletic director at the West Baltimore school since July 1, 2008 … Clark Atlanta hired J. Lin Dawson as the institution's new athletics director.  The former New England Patriot brings more than 20 years of administrative, academic and entrepreneurial experience to the CAU program … Mike Garrett became the executive director for athletics at Cal State Los Angeles. Garrett oversaw athletics at the University of Southern California for 17 years.

Associate athletic directors -- Tony Vecchione was named the senior associate director of athletics at Manhattan. Vecchione, who has over 25 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics, most recently served as the senior associate director of athletics at Pennsylvania … Texas Tech senior associate athletics director Bobby Gleason announced his retirement from the university, effective on June 30, 2016. For the past 22 years, Gleason has served as the athletics department’s chief financial officer.

Coaches

Football – Georgia named Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart as its new head coach. Smart played at Georgia and has been Nick Saban's defensive coordinator at Alabama since 2008. The new coach turns 40 on Dec. 23, and was widely regarded as one of the top assistants in the country … Syracuse hired Bowling Green coach Dino Babers to be its new coach. Babers led the Falcons to a 34-14 victory on the Mid-American Conference championship on Dec. 4, and has gone 18-9 in two seasons at Bowling Green … North Texas agreed to make North Carolina offensive coordinator Seth Littrell its new head coach. Littrell is in his first season at North Carolina after serving two seasons each as offensive coordinator at Indiana and Arizona … Virginia hired Bronco Mendenhall as its football coach, luring him away from BYU after an 11-year run with the Cougars. Mendenhall was 99-42 with the Cougars … Montana State hired Washington assistant Jeff Choate to lead its program. Choate replaces Rob Ash … Missouri promoted defensive coordinator Barry Odom to replace the retiring Gary Pinkel as head coach. Odom was an assistant under Pinkel from 2009-11, then did a three-year stint as defensive coordinator at Memphis before returning to Missouri this season as defensive coordinator … Arizona State offensive coordinator Mike Norvell is the new head coach at Memphis. Norvell ran the Sun Devils' offense for the last four years under coach Todd Graham. Norvell also worked under Graham at Pittsburgh and Tulsa. … Ruffin McNeill will not return as the coach at East Carolina … Toledo promoted offensive coordinator Jason Candle to head coach to replace Matt Campbell, who left for Iowa State. Candle, 36, has been at Toledo since 2009 and has been offensive coordinator since 2012 … Tennessee Tech coach Watson Brown announced his retirement. Brown posted a 136-211-1 record in a 31-year head coaching career that included stops at Austin Peay (1979-80), Cincinnati (1983), Rice (1984-85), Vanderbilt (1986-90) and UAB (1995-2006). Brown spent 43 seasons overall in college coaching … South Carolina announced that Will Muschamp will be the next head coach of the Gamecocks. Muschamp, a former head coach at Florida, spent the past season as the defensive coordinator at Auburn.

Women’s soccer -- New Jersey City announced Michael Vivino

will not return as head women’s soccer coach … New jersey City University named Anthony Tuesta head women’s soccer coach.

Staff

Women’s director of basketball operations -- Delaware hired Kayla Miller as the director of women’s basketball operations. Miller returned to her alma mater after spending the past year as the varsity head girls’ basketball coach at St. Mark’s Catholic High School.

Athletic directors -- Queens University (North Carolina) director of athletics Jennie King announced her resignation. Under her leadership, Queens has increased its number of NCAA teams from 10 to 21, and its number of student athletes by 280 percent … After six years serving as the director of athletics, Ann Martin announced that she is leaving Regis University. Martin began her tenure as director of athletics in 2010 … Senior associate athletic director Paul Kowalczyk has been appointed interim athletic director, at Illinois. Kowalczyk has been with the Illinois program since 2012 … Christyn Abaray is the new Lawrence University director of athletics. Abaray has served as director of athletics at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, since June 2012 … Millsaps announced that athletic director Josh Brooks is leaving the school for a new position at the University of Louisiana-Monroe. Brooks will become special assistant to ULM President Nick Bruno … Rutgers relieved Julie Hermann of her duties.

Associate athletics directors -- Columbia announced that Anthony Azama was named senior associate athletics director for external operations. Azama comes to his position after nine years working for Miami (Ohio) … UMass Lowell announced the hiring of Christine Smith as the associate athletic director for academics and student-athlete services. Smith comes to UMass Lowell after serving as the associate athletics director for compliance and academic support at Lindenwood … Mario Morris, who has been with the Wisconsin department of intercollegiate athletics since 2010, was named associate athletic director for business operations. Previously, Morris served as director of financial operations at Wisconsin since 2014.

Assistant athletic directors -- Monica Mims joined the Richmond Spiders as assistant athletic director for compliance for Richmond athletics. Mims comes to Richmond from Iowa, where she was the associate director of compliance at her alma mater … Scott Warner joined the Richmond Spiders as assistant athletic director for marketing and fan development. Warner will oversee marketing and ticket sales strategic initiatives as well as manage game day promotional activities at Richmond … Josh Jorgensen, who was the assistant athletic director for external affairs at Texas A&M Commerce the past two years and most recently Commerce's interim athletics director, was named Austin Peay State’s assistant athletics director for external affairs … Michael Bamonti, a 2003 graduate of what was then Loyola College in Maryland, was named director of athletic development and assistant athletic director at Loyola University Maryland following stints at Pennsylvania and Temple … Holy Cross named Armani Rice as its new assistant director of athletics for student-athlete development. Rice joins the Crusaders after working at Duke from 2010-2015 … Frostburg State announced that Crystal Satterfield was promoted to assistant director of athletics for business operations and will also serve as the school's senior woman administrator.

Coaches

Football -- Minnesota signed Tracy Claeys to a three-year contract to lead the Golden Gopher program. Claeys succeeds Jerry Kill, who resigned his position on Oct. 28, 2015 due to health reasons … Virginia Tech hired Justin Fuente to replace Frank Beamer, who was 237-121-2 in 29 years at the school. The 39-year-old Fuente joins the Hokies after leading a remarkable resurgence during his four seasons as head coach at Memphis. In 2014, after leading the Tigers to their first conference championship since 1971 and the most wins in Memphis history over a two-year period, Fuente was the unanimous selection as American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year … Clay Helton, in his sixth year at USC, was named the Trojans’ head coach on November 30, dropping the interim head coach title he had held since October 12. Helton took on the offensive coordinator role in 2013. He was the quarterbacks coach his first six years before being named interim head coach … UCF hired Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost as the 10th head coach in program history. A former national-champion quarterback at Nebraska, Frost has been with Oregon since 2009, and took over as its offensive coordinator in 2013 … Nick Rolovich was hired by  Hawaii. Rolovich is a former UH quarterback and assistant coach, who spent the past four years as Nevada’s offensive coordinator … Georgia announced that Mark Richt will not return next season. In 15 seasons leading the Bulldogs, Richt posted a record of 145-51 … Iowa State hired Matt Campbell, to lead the football program. Campbell compiled a 35-15 record in four-plus seasons as the head coach at Toledo and led the Rockets to three nine-win seasons … Illinois agreed to a two-year contract with Bill Cubit to lead its program. Cubit was named interim head coach on Aug. 28 and has led the Fighting Illini to a 5-7 record in 2015 … Miami (Florida) relieved Al Golden of his duties.  Assistant coach Larry Scott served as the interim head coach, starting Oct. 25, until the end of the 2015 season … Missouri coach Gary Pinkel resigned his position. Pinkel's decision is health-based, as he was diagnosed in May of 2015 with lymphoma, a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma cancer of the blood … North Texas announced that Dan McCarney was relieved of his duties. Offensive Coordinator Mike Canales was named the interim head coach for the remainder of the 2015 season … Rutgers relieved Kyle Flood of his duties … Syracuse relieved Scott Shafer of his duties … Tulane relieved Curtis Johnson his duties with the Green Wave … Louisiana-Monroe named John Mumford the program's interim head coach after relieving Todd Berry of his duties. Mumford finished his second season as the defensive line coach at ULM after spending the last 14 seasons at Army … Virginia announced the resignation of Mike London.

Football assistants-- Stony Brook hired Chris Bache to the staff as the offensive line coach. Bache joins the Stony Brook staff after spending the past two seasons as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Ferrum College in Virginia.

Women’s volleyball -- Canisius announced that the school’s head volleyball coach Cathy Hummel will not return for the 2016 season. Assistant coach Rachel Stoklosa will oversee day-to-day operations of the program on an interim basis until a new head coach is named.

Staff

Coordinators -- Mark Driscoll joins the Richmond Spiders as coordinator of ticket operations. Driscoll most recently worked as ticket operations manager for Talladega Superspeedway for two years … Ishmael Turner joined the College of Charleston men’s basketball program as video coordinator. Prior to CofC, Turner served as incumbent manager of basketball operations and player personnel for the Charleston Southern men’s basketball program.

Conferences

Associate commissioners -- The Atlantic 10 Conference announced that Jill Redmond was promoted to associate commissioner. Redmond, who is beginning her seventh year in the Atlantic 10, oversees the league’s NCAA governance and compliance programs, sport championship oversight and serves on the internal conference brand initiative team.

Assistant commissioners -- Commonwealth Coast Conference announced the appointment of Doug Chin as assistant commissioner.
Chin comes to the CCC after serving in several different capacities at both Pine Manor College and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference … The Atlantic 10 announced the hiring of La’Shaina Joseph as the assistant to the commissioner/director of special events. Joseph joins the league from Long Island University, where she was director of special projects.

Director of championships -- The Atlantic 10 announced the hiring of Cass Ferguson as the director of championships. Ferguson most recently was at Kansas as assistant director of facilities and events. He previously had worked in facilities and operations at Charlotte.
