Dr. Rick Schavone announced his retirement after 36 seasons as Stanford’s head diving coach. Schavone molded Stanford into one of the top programs in the country. He was a four-time NCAA diving coach of the year and nine-time Pac-12 coach of the year.
Athletics director – Missouri State renewed the contract of Kyle Moats … Worcester State named Michael Mudd as its new athletics director … One of the top female student-athletes in Princeton history, Mollie Marcoux, will take over as the Tigers’ athletics director … South Dakota Mines added Joel Lueken as athletics director. Lueken served as William Jewel’s associate athletics until his appointment … Case Western Reserve named Amy Backus as its first permanent female athletics director. Backus came to the university after serving as the senior associate athletics director at Yale … Wittenberg welcomed Gary Williams as its athletics director … High Point appointed Dan Hauser as its athletics director … Webster hired Sean Kilgallon as its athletics director.
Associate athletics director – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi tabbed Jimmy Frush as its associate athletics director for development … North Carolina-Wilmington appointed Adrianne Swinney as senior associate athletics director and senior woman administrator. Swinney took over for Pat Howey who retired in fall 2013 … Arkansas hired Elvis Moya as its associate athletics director for marketing and fan development … Texas named Steve Hank as its senior associate athletics director and chief revenue officer. Hank was an associate athletics director at Arizona State … Utah Valley announced the retirement of senior associate athletics director Dr. DJ Smith. Smith has been with the department for 29 years, starting as its sports information director.
Assistant athletics director – Hofstra hired Ariel Pesante as its assistant athletics director for NCAA education and compliance services.
Men’s basketball – Lincoln (Missouri) hired John Moseley as head coach. Most recently, Moseley was the associate head coach at North Carolina Central, which made it to the division I NCAA tournament … Delaware State named Keith Walker as head coach. He served as interim head coach for part of the 2013-14 season … California hired Tennessee head coach Cuonzo Martin after the retirement of Mike Montgomery … Western Illinois hired former assistant coach Billy Wright as its new head coach … Mike Gallagher announced his resignation as Wilmington (Delaware)’s head coach … West Texas A&M named Tom Brown as head coach … Tennessee State hired Dana Ford as head coach. Ford was an assistant with the program from 2009-2011 … Frank Haith resigned as Missouri’s head coach to accept the position of Tulsa’s head coach … Tennessee hired Donnie Tyndall as head coach. Tyndall joined the Vols after two seasons as Southern Mississippi’s head coach.
Men’s basketball assistants – Lamar added Anthony Anderson, Bobby Kummer and Tony Madlock as assistant coaches.
Women’s basketball – Matt Cole accepted the position of head coach at East Carolina … Gonzaga promoted Lisa Fortier to head coach … North Dakota State announced Maren Walseth would take over its program for Carolyn DeHoff, who resigned after six seasons. Walseth spent the last seven years as an assistant at Penn State … Bethany Lutheran hired Lyle Jones as head coach … Fresno State hired Jaime White as its head coach … Morehead State selected Greg Todd as its new head coach. Todd spent the last eight seasons as Transylvania’s head coach … Portland promoted Cheryl Sorenson to head coach … Houston named Ron Hughey as head coach.
Football – Minot State announced Tyler Hughes as its head coach.
Men’s and women’s golf – Florida’s head men’s coach Buddy Alexander retired after 27 seasons. The eight-time SEC coach of the year, led the Gators to two national championships in 1993 and 2001.
Men’s and women’s lacrosse – Jim Morrissey resigned as Holy Cross’s head men’s coach.
Men’s and women’s swimming and diving – Rowan announced the retirement of head coach Tony Lisa after 35 years of coaching
Men’s and women’s volleyball – Chowan hired Dawn Peipher as head coach … North Carolina Central announced Nicki Holmes as its new head coach.
Sports performance – Columbia promoted Tommy Sheehan to director of sports performance and hired Bob Gilmartin as director of sports performance for football.
Former Houston women’s basketball coach Joe Curl, died on April 14 at the age 59 after a lengthy battle with heart problems. Curl is one of the best coaches in Cougar basketball history, compiling an all-time record of 193-67 in 12 seasons at the helm … Former Adelphi assistant vice president and athletics director Robert E. Hartwell died on April 11. He served as athletics director from 1986-2011.

Carnegie Mellon appointed Josh Centor as its athletics director. Centor has been with the department for the last six years, spending the last nine as the interim athletics director. Prior to joining the Carnegie Mellon staff, he spent three working in new media at the NCAA national office.

Seidel was a longtime Olympics communications executive … Troy named Steve Stroud as senior associate athletics director for external affairs … Point Loma Nazarene hired Brian Thornton as associate athletics director … New Mexico State named Fred Heinrich as its associate athletics director for development. Heinrich has been with the Aggies since 2013 as the director of corporate and foundation relations … Avery Esdaile announced his resignation as Wellesley’s associate athletics director to become the athletic director for the Boston Public Schools … Penn State named Tom McGrath as its associate athletics director for business relations and communications.

Colorado College’s legendary football coach Jerry Carle died at the age of 90. Carle doubled as the director of athletics for 25 years while coaching for 33 seasons.
