2014 Convention: Day Two Highlights

The NCAA Convention continued on Thursday, highlighted by the Opening Business Session, where NCAA President Mark Emmert shared the stage with NCAA leaders from each division and discussed the pressing issues facing the Association.

Division I captured a slew of national attention when more than 800 participants gathered for the Division I Governance Dialogue, where they discussed ways to make the governance structure more nimble while including an array of voices in the process, including presidents, athletics administrators and student athletes, among others. In a separate meeting the Division I Leadership Council did not forward a recommendation regarding transfer student-athletes.

The Division II Management Council and Presidents Council discussed possible messages a new externally facing slogan could convey during their joint meeting at the NCAA Convention.

The Division III Presidents Council, like the Management Council the day before, stressed the need to soon take a close look at spending cuts in order to offset anticipated hikes in championship travel costs.
