Annually, NCAA leadership development conducts Effective Facilitation Workshops, interactive professional development experiences where you receive personalized feedback on your specific leadership style and gain skills in active learning and engaging facilitation. After attending the workshop, you can bring your increased facilitation skill level back to campus or the conference office to create meaningful group discussions with student-athletes and run effective meetings for department staff, all with the awareness of how and when new skills are obtained.

Attendees of the workshop can also take their newly acquired skills to the national level. Many will be asked to conduct and facilitate detailed curriculum for student-athletes at the annual NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum

Eligibility and training

Current full-time employees at NCAA member schools, conference offices or affiliate organizations are welcome to apply and attend the workshops. Administrators and coaches who have previously facilitated, and wish to volunteer their time to again do so, are required to attend one of the workshops.

The NCAA will provide hotel accommodations for the workshop, curriculum training and facilitation at student-athlete programming. Facilitators should not contact the hotel directly regarding their reservation.

The NCAA will cover the costs associated with lodging, some meals and program materials. The only costs to the facilitators shall be travel, some meals and hotel incidentals.

Application process

The online application for the March 2018 workshop will open Nov. 1, 2017. The deadline to apply for the March workshop is Nov. 30, 2017, at Noon Eastern time.
