When and where is the 2013 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum (Leadership Forum)?
This Leadership Forum will take place November 7-10, 2013, at the Omni Providence Hotel and the Rhode Island Convention Center for those participants located in Region One.
What is the cost for student-athletes to attend?
Attendance at the Leadership Forum is absolutely FREE! The NCAA pays for airfare or mileage, shuttle transportation, lodging (Thursday through Sunday only) and meal costs; rental car fees are not reimbursed. Hotel expenses (excluding incidentals) and airfare are billed directly to the NCAA.
How will participants get to the conference?
Participants located within approximately 300 miles of the Leadership Forum site are required to travel via ground transportation unless the national office grants an exception. However, the NCAA will reimburse the institution for mileage at $.50 per mile. Air transportation will be provided for participants located beyond 250 miles of the Leadership Forum site.
How are flight arrangements handled?
Participants beyond 250 miles of the Leadership Forum site must schedule flight arrangements through the NCAA national office. Flight expenses are billed directly to the NCAA.
Do institutions need to arrange hotel reservations?
No. Rooms will be reserved for participants Thursday through Sunday nights only with room and tax billed directly to the NCAA. DO NOT contact the hotel directly to make lodging arrangements.
How are expense reimbursements handled?
Reasonable and necessary expenses associated with travel will be reimbursed by the NCAA only upon provision of expense receipts. The NCAA reserves the right to deny any expense reimbursement submissions.
Are meals provided during the Leadership Forum?
Yes, all meals during the Leadership Forum will be provided.
When is the registration deadline?
The deadline to register is 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Wednesday, September 25, 2013.

Should the student-athletes selected have athletics eligibility remaining?
Student-athlete participants must have eligibility and be participating in a NCAA-sponsored sport during the 2013-14 academic year.
Can student-athletes attend the Leadership Forum without a coach or administrator?
Yes. A coach, administrator or faculty member is not required to attend with their institution's two student-athletes. For the attending coach, administrator or faculty member, the Leadership Forum is a professional development opportunity to enhance leadership skills that contribute to their role on campus, and engage in dialogue with colleagues concerning their influence upon student-athlete well being. A select number of individuals will be eligible to attend the Leadership Forum.
For selected participants, is there a requirement to attend the entire Leadership Forum?
Yes. All participants, including coaches, administrators and faculty, are required to attend and participate in all Leadership Forum activities.
I attend an all-female or all-male institution. Can we still select two student-athletes?
Yes. An single-gender institution may select two student-athletes (of the same gender), institutions are strongly encouraged to select at least one participant who is a person of color or international representative. Each student-athlete must represent a different NCAA-sponsored sport.
