Meet the Leadership Development staff
Leadership development programming, conducted both at the national office and regional sites across the United States, includes practical and relevant subjects such as academics, athletics, service, personal development, career development, engagement, communication, wellness, social networking, coaching and values identification. Each offering is constructed and executed by teams of subject-matter experts, instructional designers and NCAA staff to provide participants the best practices and to keep student-athletes and athletics professionals on top of important trends in collegiate athletics. Leadership development partners with leaders in the sports industry – NFL, NACWAA, AFCA, BCA, NACDA, WBCA, MOAA, MOIC, NABC – to empower program participants that they are building a strong foundation.
The department also provides resources year-round, assisting athletics professionals in translating lessons learned through athletic competition – leadership, teamwork, discipline, perseverance – into becoming a better student and responsible citizen. Additionally, leadership development oversees the renowned NCAA Postgraduate Internship Program and, working alongside NCAA governance, annually distributes over $2.5 million in grants to institutions and conference offices.
